Hawthorne Students Bring History Alive
Hawthorne Elementary third graders hosted their annual Famous Missourians Living Wax Museum on Thursday, Nov. 20, in the school commons. Each participant selected a noteworthy person to research, then wrote a short biography and prepared their costumes and make-up for the event. The individuals represented included such Missouri luminaries as Laura Ingalls Wilder, General Omar Bradley and Walt Disney. Students from other grades were able to tour the museum and press the "buttons" to make the "wax figures" share information about themselves. It's another great example of the hands-on teaching and learning that happens in our classrooms every day that school is in session!
